Hematologic dyscrasias caused by medication. – C. Dyscrasias of the platelet series and disturbances of the coagulation mechanism

Journal Title: Αρχεία Ελληνικής Ιατρικής - Year 2010, Vol 27, Issue 5

Abstract

This review presents the disturbances affecting the platelets and the blood coagulation system following administration of medication. Both platelet numbers and platelet function can be affected by several different drugs. In addition, blood coagulation system abnormalities can be caused by several medicines, administered either alone or in combination. Combined disturbances of both platelet function and the coagulation system may be a side effect of drug treatment, and should always be considered in relevant cases.
