HISTORY OF POLISH FIELD ARTILLERY ACCORDING TO KONSTANTY GÓRSKI

Abstract
The author presents the history of the Polish field artillery on the basis of the work of Konstanty Górski. Górski was a historian living in the 19th century. He served in the Russian army as an infantry officer and having retired he commenced to work on the Polish military history. Owing to his writings, many important historical sources connected with infantry, cavalry and artillery were preserved.His last work, “The History of Polish Artillery”, tells us about the introduction, development and employment of field artillery in Poland. The history starts in the 14th century and ends in 1792. Since there were no sources, Górski did not write about artillery in the last Polish war of 1794.Konstanty Górski is almost unknown and the author’s intention is to introduce him and his work to the military community, especially to field artillery military students. The article can be used to support lessons on military history.
