“HISTORY OF RYTHENIANS” – THE SOURCE OF ETYMOLOGICAL STYDIES

Abstract
Analyzed the etymology of toponyms and ethnonyms in the "History of Rythenians", a remarkable historical monument of the late XVIII century, which confirms the Ukrainian national-political concept. In particular, attention is paid to place names Lviv and Chervona Rus, as well as ethnonyms the Vikings and the Chazars. The results are compared with the etymological dictionaries of the Ukrainian language. Analyzed material is not identical and complements the well-known etymology. It is perspective and can be taken into account in the following etymological studies.
