HİTİTLER DÖNEMİNDE URUADANİYA
Journal Title: Archivum Anatolicum-Anadolu Arsivleri - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
The written sources from 2nd. Millenium BC point out that the earliest name of Çukurova, the largest delta of Turkey, is Kizzuwatna. Adaniya was one of the ancient towns in the Kizzuwatna region. In this paper, 11 cuneiform texts including Adaniya with determinatives KUR “land” or URU “town” will be treated in detail. Based upon the transcriptions and translations of these texts, it is also referred to the location of Adaniya. The treated texts including Adaniya provide the following information: that the distance between Zunnakara, a town located to Misis / Yakapınar, and Adaniya was a day’s journey, and also that the distance between Kummanni (Kizzuwatna), an ancient town located to Şar or Sirkeli (?), and Adaniya was a day’s journey. Kummanni usually appears with Zunnaḫara, Arušna and Tarša in the cuneiform texts.
