Journal Title: Αρχεία Ελληνικής Ιατρικής - Year 2009, Vol 26, Issue 1
Abstract
Five cases of HIV seropositive patients with end stage re-nal disease (ESRD) who were hospitalized, enrolled in the program and received renal replacement therapy in the Nephrology Department for a duration of 6 months to 4 years are presented. All were males, aged 36–59 years. Two of them died (one from infection and the other from cardi-ovascular disease), two are on hemodialysis, and the fifth is living with a functioning kidney graft. All three survivors are living well, without serious problems and are receiving chronic antiretroviral treatment. The management of these patients is reviewed.
