How students of Master of Education perceive research and the researcher´s work

Journal Title: Trilogía Ciencia Tecnología Sociedad - Year 2015, Vol 7, Issue 12

Abstract

Graduate education in Mexico has expanded mainly by the opening of Master programs in private schools, especially in the field of education. In this respect, there are not records to identify how students conceive their potential roles as researchers or the level of understanding when they perform these tasks. For this reason, the project identifies the perceptions of a group of students of the Master of Science in Education program. The study was classified as qualitative, interpretative, which assessed students’ perceptions about the role of esearch and educational researcher. The results showed that their perceptions about it are poor and affected by their professional profile. Students do not have a clear idea about the values that an educational researcher should have or the role of educational research in the processes of quality management and teaching practice in the classroom. Furthermore, students don not see the link between such management and the role of educational researcher.
