How to manage the risk of the emergence of late payments

Abstract
Late payments and payment backlogs are one of the most important threats to the effi-cient functioning of an enterprise and its stable development. The article discusses two main groups of tools which are a real help to entrepre-neurs. The first is a group of tools reducing the risk of receiving a payment from a business partner late. The second, are tools allowing to minimise negative consequences of late payments on the part of a business partner, including such deterioration of its financial situation, which led to opening of restructuring procedures, and in the extreme case to dec-laration of bankruptcy. The Authors distinguish also a third category: tools designed to increase the likelihood of timely payment by a business parter or shortening the period of a delay in the case of payment after the established deadline.<br/><br/>
