HUMAN AND HIS FATE IN «ADVENTURES OF AIME LEBOEUF» BY M. KUZMIN (TO THE QUESTION ABOUT GENRE NATURE OF LITERARY WORK)

Abstract
The article focuses upon the specificity of genre of «The Adventures of Aime Leboeuf» by M. Kuzmin. In the works of literary critics this novel is considered as stylization of picaresque novel (novela picaresca). The author of the article solves the problem: if the novel of M. Kuzmin, which was written in the beginning of XX century is an exact copy of the genre, which existed in its classical form in world literature until the end of the XVIII century? Solving this problem, the author has put into focus the category of «fate». «Destiny» is being studied as a concept and plot motive in the novel. Therefore, the author uses the technique of structural method (fate, a key motif, is studied as a structural unit of the text), as well as the anthropological method (it was studied how the hero appreciates his destiny, explains the events of his life, solves the problem of freedom and predestination). So level of poetics and the mental level of the novel are related. Conceptual analysis showed that the ratio of the hero and the other characters of the novel to the fate has a controversial nature. They understand that the events have a sense that someone (or something) has set. But the meaning of fate can be found. The help of clairvoyant is needed for it. Therefore, they try to guess their fate by a fortune-teller. At the same time they are living in the era of man’s faith in its independence and opportunities. So they can blame fate and take the initiative in their hands. The hero of the novel even plays the role of an astrologer, pretends to guess people’s lives. However, most of the events of his life — are the result of the actions of other people who, as a rule, have devious aims. The main plot motives in the novel by M. Kuzmin are the initiation of the hero and his wanderings. Both motives related to his fate. The presence of these motives in the novel is a sign of it’s connection with the picaresque novel. But the behavior of the hero (actant), his character is not the same as in the picaresque novel. He does not obtain only material goals. As a general rule, he obeys to senses of love and friendship. The main aim for him — to get away from the boredom and monotony. He is not also interested in history. This hero- is an adventurer. The author of the raper concludes that M. Kuzmin in the «Adventures of Aime Leboeuf» not only continued the traditions of the picaresque, but of the adventure novel, too. The mythopoetics of novel by M. Kuzmin (myth of Adonis in it’s connection with hero’s destiny) was also examined in the article.
