Human craniofacial development throughout lifetime in preventive and dental treatment

Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2011, Vol 61, Issue 1

Abstract

Craniofacial development is a complicated process controlled at the cellular and tissue levels. The tide of opinion on the mechanism responsible for the process of craniofacial development is changing due to scientific progress. From practical point of view, understanding of the dynamics and direction of maxilla and mandible development is of great importance as they have a significant impact on a possible malocclusion in the stomatognatic system. The authors describe the present point of view on the craniofacial development with reference to dental practice.
