HYDROGEN USE IN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE: A REVIEW
Journal Title: International Journal of Automotive Engineering and Technologies - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Fast depletion of fossil fuels is urgently demanding a carry out work for research to find out the viable alternative fuels for meeting sustainable energy demand with minimum environmental impact. In the future, our energy systems will need to be renewable and sustainable, efficient and cost-effective, convenient and safe. Hydrogen is expected to be one of the most important fuels in the near future to meet the stringent emission norms. The use of the hydrogen as fuel in the internal combustion engine represents an alternative use to replace the hydrocarbons fuels, which produce polluting gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), hydro carbon (HC) during combustion. In this paper contemporary research on the hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine can be given. First hydrogen-engine fundamentals were described by examining the engine-specific properties of hydrogen and then existing literature were surveyed.

PERFORMANCE, EXHAUST EMISSIONS AND COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS OF MOHR OIL BASED BIODIESEL IN A MEDIUM GRADE LOW HEAT REJECTION DIESEL ENGINE
Experiments were carried out to evaluate the performance of a mohr oil based biodiesel (MOBD) at different operating conditions [normal temperature and pre-heated temperature] in a medium grade low heat rejection (LHR) d...
Effect of mixing chamber or carburetor type on the performance of diesel engine operated on biodiesel and producer gas induction
Biodiesel-producer gas fueled dual fuel engine suffers from lower brake thermal efficiency (BTE) with higher unburned hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions at all loads. In this present work, to harness ene...
The Prototype Design and Tests of Vibration Controlled Driver Warning System from the Steering Wheel
In this study, drivers are warned according to detected adverse driving conditions by miniature vibration motors positioned on the steering wheel by obtained information from sensors such as acceleration sensor placed in...
The Determination of Aerodynamic Drag Coefficient of Truck and Trailer Model by Wind Tunnel Tests
In this study, surface pressure and drag measurements were conducted for a heavy vehicle model consisted of 1/32 scaled truck and trailer which was placed in a wind tunnel. The wind tunnel tests of truck trailer combinat...
Fatigue and Structural Analysis of Connecting Rod’s Material Due to (C.I) Using FEA
In this research connecting rod is one of the most important part in engine assembly which transfers energy from piston to crankshaft and convert the linear, reciprocating motion of a piston into the rotary motion of a c...
