HYDROGEOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PROSPECTION, EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION OF SHALE GAS AND TIGHT GAS IN POLAND
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2011, Vol 445, Issue 445
Abstract
This is an attempt to open the discussion on hydrogeological aspects of prospecting, exploration and possible future exploitation of unconventional gas deposits in Poland. Due to development of sophisticated (advanced) technology during the last 8 years, the significant progress in the field of natural gas exploitation from unconventional deposits has been made. There are strong geological premises that such deposits in Poland may be perspective which stirs up enthusiasm about possible gas production from domestic sources. Due to a very fast development of shale and tight gas exploitation technology especially in USA and Canada, people become more and more aware of water supply needs and environmental hazards of the process and hydrogeologists must get ready to give answers to many new questions. Environmental conditionality and environmental awareness of gas production process from unconventional sources, seems to be the key problem we will have to face in near future.

SEASONALITY CHANGES IN THE COMPOSITION OF THE EXCHANGEABLE CATIONS OF THE COMPLEX AND ITS IMPACT ON THE RESULTS OF THE INVERSE MODELLING
Ion exchange is considered to be a fundamental process that form the chemical composition of groundwater. In practice, its quantitative aspect is the cation exchange capacity (PWK), which can be used as a basis for calcu...
Porównanie metod prognozowania zatapiania kopalń węgla kamiennego
W artykule porównano rezultaty obliczeń prognostycznych przebiegu zatapiania kopalni węgla kamiennego, wykonanych dwiema metodami: analityczną i z wykorzystaniem modelu matematycznego. Obliczenia analityczne oparto na sz...
Methodology on the evaluation of disposable resources of medical waters from Muszyna region based on modelling in ArcGIS and Gms systems
GMS and ArcGIS were used to build a regional, multilayered model of the Muszyna region. A conceptual model performed in ArcGIS environment was transformed into a GMS numerical model. Local and regional flow systems were...
