IDENTIFICATION OF STABLE GENOTYPES OF RAPESEED USING SOME PARAMETRIC AND NON-PARAMETRIC METHODS UNDER DRYLAND CONDITIONS
Journal Title: Journal of Advances in Internal Medicine - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Rapeseed breeders aimed to develop varieties which perform relatively well over the target region. However the presence of genotype× environment (GE) hinders selection progress. This study was conducted on 20 improved rapeseed genotypes using some stability indices at three locations in Iran during 2004-2006. The combined analysis of variance indicated significant environment and genotype main effects and a significant GE interaction. The interaction of the studied rapeseed genotypes was predicted by the first two principal components of genotypes and environments. The interaction principle components axes scores presented a disproportionate genotype response which was the major source of variation for any crossover genotype by environment interaction. Additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) bi-plot showed that VDH-8003-98, Aviso and Elvis had the lowest interaction in across environments. Aviso produced the highest yield across environments. The GE pattern revealed by AMMI bi-plots indicated that the tested rapeseed genotypes are narrowly adapted, and Aviso was identified as widely adapted genotype according to AMMI stability value and yield reliability index.
