Image Segmentation using Extended Edge Operator for Mammographic Images
Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2010, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Detection of edges in an image is a very important step owards understanding image features. Since edges often occur at mage locations representing object boundaries, edge etection is extensively used in image segmentation when ages are divided into areas corresponding to different bjects. This can be used specifically for enhancing the tumor area in ammographic images. In this paper extended Sobel , Prewitt and Kirsch edge operators are proposed for image gmentation of mammographic images. Edges and tumor ocation can be een clearly by using this method. For mparison purpose Gray vel o-occurrence matrix, atershed algorithm, present obel, rewitt and Kirsch edge operators are used and their results re displayed.
