Immediate Implant Placement: A Review
Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Dental and Medical Sciences (IOSR-JDMS) - Year 2017, Vol 16, Issue 5
Abstract
Placement of implants immediately following extraction has become an increasingly common strategy to preserve bone and reduce treatment time. This technique not only shortens treatment time but also improve esthetics by preserving the soft tissue envelope.Immediate implant placement is technically challenging and should only be undertaken by clinicians with considerable experience in implant dentistry, both surgically and prosthetically. The objective of this article is to provide a general review about immediate implant placement and to summarize uses and applications in which this technique can be indicated.
