IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON NATURE

Journal Title: International scientific journal Science and Innovation - Year 2024, Vol 3, Issue 8

Abstract

Climate change is fundamentally altering natural ecosystems worldwide, posing significant threats to biodiversity and ecosystem services. This article synthesizes current research on the diverse impacts of climate change on nature. It discusses how rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and sea-level rise are leading to habitat loss and fragmentation, exacerbating the risk of species extinctions. Changes in phenology and migration patterns disrupt species interactions and ecosystem dynamics, affecting food webs and ecosystem stability. Ocean acidification, driven by increased atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, threatens marine biodiversity and fisheries. Invasive species are exploiting changing conditions, further destabilizing ecosystems.
