Impact of Information Economy on Work and Employees of Contemporary Organisation

Abstract
The article presents the issue of human work in changing organizations. Recent turbulences in the global economy are revolutionary and never observed before. There is no doubt that phenomenon such as globalization, information technology at work and rising importance of knowledge have significantly influenced changes in professional work and higher expectation for employees. The aim of the article is to indicate basic characteristics of the evolution of human work, changes in the competency profile of a contemporary worker, and challenges for education. In the first part, the author focuses on the importance of work for human being, its evolution across the time, and its main characteristics. In the second part there were proposed five main characteristics of today new workers. In the last part, the author points to the need to make changes in educational system, as it is currently not able to meet job market requirements. Ending of the article has been devoted to the author’s conclusions.
