IMPORT DEPENDENCE OF UKRAINE’S MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES

Abstract
The level of import dependence of individual manufacturing industries (127 sub-industries according to the 4-digit International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities of the United Nations, ISIC Rev. 3.1) was analysed. Industries with decreased level of import dependence were identified. Additionally, the trends in output in these industries were analyzed to identify tendencies of import substitution. Import substitution was found to be relatively effective only in those industries, where the level of import dependence had decreased while the output had increased.
