IMPORTANCE AND NECESSITY OF SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK IN TURKEY: EXMPLE OF KONYA

Abstract
This study was conducted for the purpose of revealing the importance and necessity of forming social work in all schools throughout Turkey. School's social work contain the objective of revealing more comprehensive work aimed at children and families. The study was conducted with this form, which was structured with a questionnaire form that was developed by using the literature, via semi-structured interview technic. While the target population of the study was randomly selected as teachers in the District of Selçuklu; the sample was selected as teachers at three schools in Bosna Hersek neighborhood. The study was applied to teachers at three schools (Aliya İzzet Begoviç İmam Hatip Secondary School, Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Secondary School and Bosna Hersek İmam Hatip High School) of the Ministry of National Education in Selçuklu, Konya, Bosna Hersek neighborhood. The study results were discussed in the light of relevant literature and their role and importance in applying school' social work were remarked. The necessity for social work experts to apply this model was emphasized and the tasks of the profession were defined. As a consequence, all the participants gave support and demand for the development of a school social work application that would enable schools to provide school social work in our country, where social work applications are insufficient.
