In vitro establishment of apices of field plants of the hybrid Cuban Papaya IBP 42-99
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2004, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
The present work was carried out with the objective of developing a protocol for the establishment of shoot tips in vitro of papaya, starting from adult plants in the field, which had 11 months of having planted in field. Plants were selected which are beheaded the apical area and other not, besides the application to foliate of a mixture of growth regulators of 6 BAP and giberelic acid. For the disinfection of the explantes different substances were used, alone or in combination: Sodium Hypochlorite (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0%), Alcohol to 70% and a mixture of antibiotics. The best results were reached when using the Sodium Hypochlorite to 1.0% during 10 minutes, after the previous submersion of the apexes in the mixture of antibiotics for 30 minutes and using buds of 2 months of age, what allowed to achieve 68.5 % establishment.

Scaling-up the biomass production of Cymbopogon citratus L. in temporary immersion system
Shoot-tips, collected from greenhouse-grown plants of Cymbopogon citratus L. (lemmon grass), were incubated on a semi-solid Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with 30% (w/v) sucrose, and supplemented with 0.89 μM 6-benzyl...
Protocol for Anthurium cubense Engler micropropagation from botanic seed
The popularity of Anthurium cubense, like pot plant, every day it is increased. Likewise, it has begun to extend the line of cultivated products for their employment as foliage. However, the traditional propagation of...
Sensitivity of hybrid Cymbidium (Orchidaceae) to salt stress (MgSO 4 , CaCl 2 and KNO 3 )
Hybrid Cymbidium Twilight Moon ‘Day Light’ is highly sensitive to salt (NaCl). This is not surprising given the natural growth locations of tropical and subtropical orchids, which usually receive clean, and unsalted wat...
Evaluation of the effect of three in vitro culture conditions on the quality of sugarcane seedlings propagated in bioreactors Temporary Immersion
Structural and functional deficiencies that affect survival during acclimatization are present in micropropagated plants. The current study was carried out to determine the effect of three in vitro culture conditions (a...
Development of the understanding of seed recalcitrant and implications for ex situ conservation
Recalcitrant seeds are shed at high water content, are desiccation sensitive and cannot be stored under conditions conventionally employed for desiccation-tolerant orthodox seeds. Recalcitrant seeds are metabolically a...
