Incident factors in the compliance of vaccination coverages in minors aged 12 to 23 months

Abstract

The factors that affect compliance with vaccination coverage in children aged 12 to 23 months, an issue related to risks of preventable immune diseases considered a public health problem.Objective: To determine the factors that affect compliance with vaccination coverage in children between 12 and 23 months of age, at the Vergeles del Cantón Milagro health establishment, in the first quarter of 2020.Method: The research design is field, descriptive and transversal. The population was 655 cases and the sample 100. A pilot plan of 15 cases was applied. The techniques used were a survey and the interview. The instrument for the survey was a questionnaire of 18 questions and for the interview of 4 questions. They were validated by judgments of health experts, qualifying validity, relevance and coherence.Results: Among the results, 40% did not complete the vaccination schedule. 93.3% know the importance of vaccines. The age range was frequently 30 to 36 years, 60%. 53.3% are married couples. 73.3% of urban residence. 40% have completed high school studies. 46.7% are public employees. 80% of mothers do comply with the vaccination schedule according to the scheme on time. 60% if they complete the vaccination coverage. 80% indicated to prevent future illnesses of the child. 73.3% of mothers do receive guidance from the nurse and 60% do not have allergic reactions or risks of preventable immune diseases. Conclusion: It was determined that the vast majority of mothers do not complete the vaccination schedule or the dose, due to waiting time, beliefs, religion or customs that prevent vaccination even though they know that the vaccine improves the child's health status. Many do not know how many vaccines the minor should receive, becoming a major public health problem
