INDUSTRIAL POLICIES AND TRANSFORMATION OF INDUSTRIAL SECTOR IN TURKEY: AN EVALUATION THROUGH PLANNED DEVELOPMENT ERA

Abstract
Industrial policies are one of the most controversial topics in Economics. Industrial policies are basically the acts aside from monetary and fiscal policies that affect the sectoral structure. In Turkey, from the proclamation of the Republic, a great importance has been given to industrialization, and industrial sector has been seen as the key to economic development. In this context, many plans, programs and policies were applied to the industrial sector. In this study, industrial plans that has been applied, and the transformation in industrial sector were discussed and industrial plans-policies were investigated for planned and unplanned periods. After that, the growth performance of industrial sector and sectoral transformation were evaluated through targeted and actual sectoral growth rates for the 1963-2013 planned periods.
