Infiltration intake work analysis under hydrological drought

Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2009, Vol 436, Issue 436

Abstract

This paper presents a numerical simulation of groundwater flow in an infiltration intake. Calculations were made in transient conditions using the Modflow program (included in GMS ver. 3.1). The initial conditions of simulation were computed in the steady-state conditions for the admissible exploitation (100 000 m[sup]3[/sup]/day). The boundary conditions were calculated as a time-dependant function of the water level in infiltration basins. As a result, flow balance during hydrological drought is calculated. Numerical calculations were made for a period of 10 days, but only a seven-day period is presented. For a longer period, the numerical model of infiltration intake should be reanalyzed.
