INFLUENCE OF A CALCIUM ALGINATE ON THE PROPERTIES OF HYDROPHILIC GELS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEX WITH CHITOSAN
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2009, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
Treatment of vagina inflammatory condition is usually long and difficult because of its frequent relapse. The investigated preparations on methylcellulose base revealed good adhesion to the vaginal mucosa and were present on it throughout the daily activities of the patient. This property enabled the continuity of 24- hour action of the drug. The value of pH of a gel is greatly influenced by the content of lactic acid in relation to chitosan and the type and concentration of a auxiliary substance. Gels containing lactic acid complex with chitosan at 1 : 1 stoichiometric ratio is equivalent to regular physiological conditions of a vagina. pH of gel at 2 : 1 stoichiometric composition ratio of lactic acid to chitosan remains below a physiological reaction and can be used in benign inflammatory condition.

THE USE OF DEXTRAN IN GYNECOLOGICAL POWDERS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEXED WITH CHITOSAN
Powders for gynecological use pass under natural conditions in gels covering the vaginal mucosa. This study has shown the impact of used excipients and the ratio of lactic acid to chitosan on pH, dynamic viscosity and ad...
INFLUENCE OF NANOSILVER ON THERMAL STABILITY OF CHITOSAN
Nanoadditives for polymers have many valuable features: e.g. the ability to change the properties of polymers: mechanical strength, stability and heat resistance and resistance to radiation. These properties make them an...
LARGE SIZE DNA IN VITRO AND IN VIVO DELIVERY USING CHITOSAN TRANSFECTION
In modern medicine, many diseases can be treated using gene therapy, which requires a DNA delivery system to prevent DNA from degradation and to transport it to the cells. Liposomal reagents are expensive for such a ther...
RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CHITOSAN BLENDS WITH PARTIALLY HYDROLYZED POLYACRYLAMIDE IN DIFFERENT SOLVENTS
In the present paper, the results of rheological measurements in solutions of chitosan (Ch) with partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) are presented. Aqueous acetic acid, lactic acid and aqueous acetic acid/NaCl wer...
EFFECT OF pH VALUE AND ADSORBENT CONCENTRATION ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ADSORPTION ONTO CHITIN AND CHITOSAN
The study was aimed at determining the effectiveness of reactive dye RB5 removal in the adsorption process onto chitin and chitosan as affected by the quantity of an adsorbent and pH value of the solution. The experiment...
