Influence of complex therapy on indicators of markers of oxidative stress in patients with lichen ruber planus

Abstract

Objective — the objective is to determine and study the dynamics of the oxidative stress in patients with lichen ruber planus (LRP) under the influence of complex therapy. Materials and methods. Under our supervision, there were 75 patients with LRP. All the patients were divided into 2 groups: the main group, which included 38 patients, and the comparison group, which consisted of 37 patients. The comparative characteristic of patients in each group was performed according to the area of lesion, the severity of the course, the duration of the illness, age and sex. The groups were formed by random sampling. The patients of the main group received comprehensive treatment which included a hypoglycaemic diet, Decamevit, Athoxyl and Alpha-lipon. The patients of the comparative group received the generally accepted treatment in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 312 of May 08, 2009 «On Approval of Clinical Protocols for the Provision of Medical Aid to Patients with Dermatovenereologic Diseases». The patients before and after the treatment had the blood level of diene conjugate, malondialdehyde, carbonyl groups of oxide-modified proteins, catalase, superoxide dismutase, sulfhydryl groups. Results and discussion. Before the beginning of treatment, the patients with LRP had elevated levels of carbonyl groups of oxide-modified proteins, malondialdehyde, diene conjugate and decreased levels of catalase, superoxide dismutase and sulfhydryl groups in comparison with indicators of patients of the control group. In the process of treatment the dynamics with the tendency to normalization of the majority of indices of prooxidant and antioxidant defense of patients was discovered. Conclusions. The increased level of peroxidation in the body of patients with LRP on the base of exhaustion of systems of antioxidant defense was detected. The use of hypoglyucine diet, Decamevit, Atoxyl and Alpha-lipon in the course of complex therapy contributes to more effective regulation of the indicators of prooxidant-antioxidant protection.
