Influence of Maslow's need hierarchy theory on negative emotions and nursing satisfaction of patients with infectious endophthalmitis

Journal Title: Eye Science (Yanke Xuebao) - Year 2020, Vol 35, Issue 4

Abstract

[Objective:] To evaluate the effect of Maslow's need hierarchy theory on the negative emotions and nursing satisfaction of patients with infectious endophthalmitis. [Methods:] From October 2019 to April 2020, 40 patients with infectious endophthalmitis admitted to our hospital were randomly selected. All patients were randomly divided into the experimental and control groups, 20 patients in each group. Routine nursing intervention was applied to patients in the control group, while patients in the experimental group were given with nursing measures based on Maslow's need hierarchy theory and then the negative emotions and nursing satisfaction of patients were statistically compared between two groups. [Results:] The incidence of negative emotions in the control group was significantly higher than that in the experimental group, while the nursing satisfaction rate was significantly lower than that in the experimental group (both P<0.05). [Conclusion:] Maslow's need hierarchy theory is applicable in the nusring process for patients with infectious endophthalmitis. The negative emotions of patients can be effectively relieved, and the nursing satisfaction will also be significantly improved, which deserves widespread application in clinical practice.
