Influence of NaCl on Biochemical Parameters of Two Cultivars of Stevia rebaudiana Regenerated in vitro
Journal Title: Журнал ÑтреÑÑ-физиологии и биохимии - Year 2014, Vol 10, Issue 2
Abstract
Soil salinity occupies a prominent place among the soil problems that threaten the sustainability of agriculture over a vast area in the world. It affects plant morpho-physiology and ultimately leads to reduction in productivity. It is essential to test important medicinal plants for their salinity tolerance as research efforts aim to explore economic benefits under saline conditions. Keeping in view the importance of Stevia and salinity, present study had been designed to investigate the effect of salinity on biochemical parameters in two Stevia genotypes. Two node microcuttings were subjected to MS media supplemented with different NaCl concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 mM). Chlorophyll amount was observed to be decreased as compared to sugars, proline and phenols with increased salt concentration

The present study deals with the effects of exogenous application of cinnamic acid (CA) on growth and metabolism in growing seedlings of Brassica oleracea var. capitata (cabbage) in hydroponic culture. CA was adde...
Stress induced alterations in pre-pubertal ovarian follicular development in rat
The objective of the study was to find out whether stress experienced during neo-natal period alters the timing of formation of pre-antral and antral follicles and if so, whether pre-treatment with CRH receptor antagonis...
Genotypic Variation for Salinity Tolerance in Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) Genotypes at Early Growth Stages
Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) is the fifth most economically important crop among cereals in the world. Salinity is an abiotic factor which reduces productivity of sorghum. Exploiting genetic variability to...
Changes in Fatty Acid Composition in Leaf Lipids of Canola Biotech Plants under Short-time Heat Stress
In order to study the influence of expression of heterologous genes of different origin (cyp11A1 and desC) on canola thermotolerance improvement on leaf membrane level the fatty acid composition was analyzed under short-...
