INFLUENCE OF SOME TYPES OF DAMAGE/DEFORMATION SHAPE CHARGES ON THEIR EFFICIENCY

Abstract
The paper presents the results of experimental studies of the process of creating a shape charge jet from the damaged/deformed shape charge. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the different types of shape charge imperfections on the jet forming process. As a result of the conducted studies, it was possible to show an adverse effect of the different de-formations on the formation of the shape charge jet and its interaction with the armour.The presented results include several types of imperfections: from the shape charge defor-mation through chamfer of its part to the impact of heterogeneity of explosive materials. A 3D scanner was used for the evaluation of liner deformation, while the formation of the shape charge jet was recorded using X–ray photography. The effect of deformation on the formation of the shape charge jet and its effectiveness were compared with the normal, typical shape charge – undeformed. The tested types of shape charge deformation caused eightfold reduc-tion in the effectiveness of the jet.The method of shape charge damage/deformation was not random but corresponded, inter alia, to deformations possible to obtain during interaction between a PG–7 missile and a bar armuor.
