Influence of specific endothelin-1 receptor blockers on hemodynamic parameters and antioxidant status of plasma in LPS-induced endotoxemia.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2012, Vol 64, Issue 6
Abstract
The potent vasoconstrictor endothelin-1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of plasma oxidative stress seen in sepsis. The selective endothelin receptor blockers BQ123 and BQ788 were used to investigate the importance of selective endothelin receptor blockage in modulating oxidative stress during endotoxemia.

Potentiation of neuronal insulin signaling and glucose uptake by resveratrol: the involvement of AMPK.
Resveratrol (RSV), a polyphenolic phytoestrogen, has been shown to activate the serine/threonine kinase 5'-adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and to stimulate insulin signaling and glucose uptake in...
In vivo effects of CB(1) receptor ligands on lipid peroxidation and antioxidant defense systems in the rat brain of healthy and ethanol-treated rats.
In vivo experiments were conducted to study the effects of N-(piperidin-l-yl)-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-cochlo-rophenyl)-4-methyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamide (SR141716A; a potent and selective CB(1)-receptor antagonist) an...
Can we use adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to study "aspirin resistance"? The Janus faces of ADP-triggered platelet aggregation.
There is a growing number of contradictory reports indicating that adenosine diphosphate (ADP) can be a useful agonist in monitoring of the antiplatelet action of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) in humans and animals. In the...
Involvement of NMDA receptors in the antidepressant-like action of adenosine.
Background and Method: In this work, the contribution of NMDA receptors to the antidepressant-like effect of adenosine in the forced swimming test (FST) was investigated. Results: The pretreatment of mice with NMDA or D-...
Pregnenolone sulfate infused in lateral septum of male rats impairs novel object recognition memory.
In the present paper we show for the first time that pregnenolone sulfate (Preg-S) impairs rats' memory for novel object recognition when injected in lateral septum (1.2 microM). The effect of Preg-S is clearly related t...
