INFRASTRUCTURE AS A FACTOR OF DEVELOPMENT OF UKRAINIAN CITIES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE GLOBAL CITY CONCEPT

Abstract

In the context of the concept of global cities, based on the definition of the city, the global city and the concept of global cities, an analysis of their infrastructure is important for the city of Ukraine, as infrastructure is a set of industries, processes and systems that ensures the best functioning of cities. According to a number of international studies, there are no global cities in Ukraine. Only the Taylor group is considered to be the city of Kyiv as a global one. It is important not only to study the features of the existing global city of Kiev, but also to identify possible further ways of becoming of other global cities in the country, assessing the level of development of our country, the socio-economic and political situation that has developed, as well as the desire to implement a polycentric model of regional development of the territory and administrative reform. It is the largest cities of Ukraine that are the main contenders for obtaining a global status. Analysis of the development of their infrastructure as one of the main factors in the formation of cities as global, is an important step to understanding the possibility of their transition to this status. In addition to Kyiv, from the list of major cities of Ukraine promising to receive status, there are cities of Kharkiv, Odessa, and the Dnieper Among the subtypes of infrastructure as the most important for urban functioning in the aspect prior to the transition to global status, the authors selected: transport, information and infrastructure of social security (education, health and culture). For each of the selected points, the studied cities have the highest possible positive profile. Consequently, according to the authors, the characteristics of the development of urban infrastructure, each of the researchers is worthy, of course, for its further improvement, the transition to a global status. Further research requires the problem of changing functions in the transition to a global rank, as well as an analysis of investment and innovation infrastructure.
