Innowacyjność gospodarek opartych na wiedzy w latach 1995–2010

Abstract
The objective of this article was to make an overview of the innovation system as one of the four pillars of the knowledge-based economy (KBE) as well as to attempt to develop (based on taxonomic methods) a synthetic measure for assessing the degree of the innovation of 29 economies of this type throughout the time period 1995–2010. The layout of the work is subordinated to the so-defined purpose. The article consists of the following parts: introduction to the topic, characterization, measurement and analysis of the degree of innovation of KBE, and a brief summary. The results of the research obtained by the author allowed the creation of four rankings of the degree of innovation of the 29 KBEs under study and led to the conclusion that in 1995–2010 the average level of innovation in knowledge-based economies grew steadily (with the highest values received for highly developed KBEs) and the scope of its volatility was reduced considerably.
