Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2012, Vol 11, Issue 3

Abstract

Nowadays, a modern management system in an enterprise is the one whose ideas and con¬cepts are connected with maximizing enterprise value. In this context, an issue of key factors management gains a vital importance. These factors not only create organization value, but also contribute to an increase in their competitiveness. At present, it is indicated that components of intellectual capital are such factors. However, intellectual capital management is a relatively new issue and still quite enig¬matic. That is why the realization of this process requires management to undertake innova¬tive actions in individual areas of intellectual capital management. Undoubtedly, a fundamental area which determines quality, effectiveness and a success in the process of intellectual capital management is the measurement of intangible assets. It constitutes a basis to assess a level of intellectual capital development and to identify those components which are the most developed and those which can be found in an organization but do not have their value estimated. Taking the specificity of intellectual capital into account, its measurement requires the ap¬plication of innovative solutions which requires creating a measurement system based on both quantitative and qualitative indexes. The introduction of such a system is essential for a proper identification of the level of development of individual components of intellectual capital, as well as making a choice between alternative methods of action in an enterprise and making strategic decisions in an enterprise. The paper is focused on the issue of enterprise innovation within intellectual capital meas¬urement as a fundamental area of intellectual capital management in an enterprise.
