Interaction between mitochondrial quality control and metal-mediated cell death in sepsis and its clinical significance
Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2024, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Its progression is closely associated with metal metabolism abnormalities and mitochondrial quality deterioration. Mitochondria serve as centers for energy metabolism and metal storage, and their quality control regulates metal-mediated cell death, influencing the progression of sepsis. This review discusses the mechanisms of mitochondrial quality control (MQC) and their relationship with metal-induced cell death. It explores the effects of metal metabolism and MQC changes on cell death under septic conditions. The interaction between these factors is further examined for its significance in the pathophysiological processes of sepsis and related complications. This paper provides new insights for its diagnosis and treatment.

New advances in research on glycogen metabolism-regulated diseases
Glycogen, a polysaccharide composed of glucose molecules linked by α-1,4-glycosidic and α-1,6- glycosidic bonds, is one of the primary energy storage forms in human body. Glycogen is primarily stored in the liver (as liv...
Causal relationship between immune cells and obesity risk: Univariate bidirectional and multivariate Mendelian randomization study
Objective This study aims to explore the causal relationship between immune cells and obesity risk using the Mendelian randomization (MR) method. Methods Data sets for 731 types of immune cells and obesity were obtained...
Pan-cancer analysis of CLDN1 and its functional study in gastric cancer
Objective This study employs bioinformatics methods to analyze the expression of Claudin 1 (CLDN1) across various types of cancer and its functional role in gastric cancer. Methods The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Geno...
Progress in the role of ductal pathways in the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis
Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a progressive fibrotic pancreatic disease influenced by multiple factors such as genetic and environmental factors. Currently, the genetic pathogenic mechanisms of CP are mainly divided into...
