Interactive effects of peripheral and central administration of LPS with inhibition of CRF receptors on food intake in neonatal chicks
Journal Title: Iranian Journal of Veterinary Science and Technology (IJVST) - Year 2019, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
Anorexia is a part of the acute phase response (APR). Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is frequently used to mimic APR and induces anorexia. The mechanism underlying anorexia associated with APR in chicks is not well understood. In the present study, the possible involvement of corticotrophin-releasing factor (CRF) on anorexic effects of LPS in neonatal chicks was investigated. For this aim, different doses of LPS were administrated via both intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intraperitoneal (IP) routes in order to assess its effects on chickâs food intake. Subsequently, the effect of ICV injection of astressin, a CRF receptor antagonist, on anorexia induced by ICV and IP administration of LPS was investigated. Food intake was significantly decreased following either central or systemic administration of LPS. ICV co -injection of astressin and LPS significantly diminished anorexic effects of central LPS. However, anorexia induced by peripheral LPS was not attenuated by central injection of astressin. These data indicated that the brain CRF receptors are involved in central LPS-induced anorexia in chicks.

The effect of Iranian capripoxvirus vaccine strains on neutralizing antibody titer in cattle
Lumpy skin disease (LSD) virus, Goat-poxvirus (GPV), and Sheep-poxvirus (SPV) are members of genus capripoxvirus (CaPV) and have close genetic similarity. The use of CaPV-vaccine strains would be useful to protect the ca...

The Effects of administration of different parts of banana (Musa cavendish) fruit extracts and peel powder on the oxidative/antioxidative characteristics and some mineral concentrations in neonatal dairy calves
The present study examined the effects of overripe banana (Musa cavendish) pulp and green banana peel extract and powder on oxidants/antioxidants parameters and some minerals in Holstein dairy calves. Forty newborn calve...
Effects of Adding α-tocopherol to Brahman Bull Chilled Semen on Sperm Quality, Lipid Peroxidation, Membrane Integrity, and DNA Integrity
During storage at low temperatures, the spermatozoa quality changes due to cold shock and free radicals. Diluent supplementation with antioxidants is an effort to maintain the quality of spermatozoa during storage. This...
