Interannual litter study in Teak plantation site of Raigarh Forest, Chhattisgarh, India
Journal Title: Journal of Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (JBES) - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 5
Abstract
The Lakha teak plantation site has situated in sub tropical deciduous forest area of Chhattisgarh. Teak is a major tree species with 32 other forest tree species in the plantation site. The study of ground leaf litter production in respect to rainfall variation from 2005-2011 shows that the average (±se; n=20) annual leaf litter production varied between 881 and 1370 g dry mass m-2 year-1. The 70-90% litter was produced in the dry seasons and 55- 70% in wet seasons. On annual basis mean (±se; n=20) the highest total litter fall production varied 7.67±0.31Mg/ha/year in 2009 and lowest 6.00±0.33 Mg/ha/year in 2011. The plantation floor litter mass found highest 6.54±0.31 Mg/ha in year 2006 and 5.03±0.25 Mg/ha in year 2010. The decomposition of litters found highest in annual rates 13.87±1.06 Mg/ha/year in 2005 and 11.08±0.84 Mg/ha/year in 2010.

Effect of salinity stress on some physiological traits of spring rapeseed genotypes at seedling stage
To study the effects of salinity on rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) and clear the role of K+ and Na+ in salt stress tolerance, an experiment was carried out in three salinity levels (0, 150 and 300 mM) and 16 genotypes with...
Morpho-physiological characteristics response of hull-less barley genotypes to water deficit stress
In order to investigated the morpho-physiological characteristics response of hull-less barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) genotypes to water deficit stress an experiment was conducted in the split plot form based on completel...
Phytoremediation of chromated copper arsenate contaminated soil by maize (Zea mays L.)
This study investigated the use of maize in removing arsenic, chromium and copper from chromated copper arsenate (CCA) contaminated soil in a pot experiment. Heavy metal levels in the CCA contaminated soil analysed sho...
Checklist of the opisthobranchs (Heterobranchia: Gastropoda) along the Iranian coasts of the Gulf of Oman
This is the first paper describing the heterobranch fauna of the coasts of Iran. A total of 25 species belonging to 14 families is recorded from the Iranian coasts of the Gulf of Oman. Except for Chromodoris annulata, t...
Screening and evaluation of ligninolytic dye decolourisation capacity of Pleurotus ostreatus
Ligninolytic enzymes as biocatalysts have the potential to replace conventional processes in several industries including the water purification industry especially in the treatment of dye effluent. Development of water...
