International image of the higher education institutions as the prerequisite of their competitiveness in the VUCA-world realities

Abstract
Introduction. In recent years the considerable obstacle to the development of the higher education institutions in Ukraine is the increased migration of the students to the countries of European Union and North America. The main reason for this is that the higher education institutions in these regions traditionally have too much better international image than the higher education institutions in Ukraine. Purpose is research of the international image of the higher education institutions in Ukraine as the prerequisite of their competitiveness in the VUCA-world realities. The achievement of the purpose involves conducting the retrospective analysis of the international image of the higher education institutions in Ukraine in 2015-2018, their distribution according to the criterion of «international recognition» for such clusters as: «higher education institutions with very high international image», «higher education institutions with high international image», «higher education institutions with average international image», «higher education institutions with low international image», «higher education institutions with very low international image». Results. In 2015/2016 academic year very high international image was characteristic of 2% of the higher education institutions in Ukraine, high − of 6%, average − of 15,5%, low − of 49%, very low − of 27,5%. In 2016/2017 academic year very high international image was characteristic of 1% of the higher education institutions in Ukraine, high − of 3,5%, average − of 8,5%, low − of 43%, very low − of 44%. In 2017/2018 academic year very high international image was characteristic of 1% of the higher education institutions in Ukraine, high −of 1,5%, average − of 10,5%, low − of 36%, very low − of 51%. Conclusion. Higher education institutions in Ukraine are generally characterized by low and very low international image, which requires the development of the comprehensive measures to enhance the international image of Ukrainian higher education institutions as the prerequisite of their competitiveness in the VUCA-world realities.
