Journal Title: Мultiversum. Philosophical almanac - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 3

Abstract

The article considers the influence of cognitive processes and socio-cultural factors on the development of scientific knowledge. The problem of the development of scientific knowledge in the historical context is considered. The composition, structure of scientific knowledge is defined; gnoseological problems of modern science: the definition of objectivity and objectivity of scientific knowledge, the ratio of empirical and rational knowledge. The role of practical activity in cognition of the world is determined, the unity of theory and practice is grounded as the initial basis of cognition; practice as the transforming power of science. Sociocultural processes and the influence of socio-cultural factors on the development of scientific knowledge are considered. The positions of internalism and externalism regarding the development of science are determined. From the standpoint of internalism, scientific knowledge does not depend on the socio-cultural conditions in which science develops. Externalism claims that not only the pace of development, but also the content of scientific knowledge depends on the sociocultural resources of society. It is determined that among the basic concepts of the development of scientific knowledge, the most acceptable is the relationship between the empirically and rationally regulated process of scientific search and socio-cultural factors.
