INTERVERTEBRAL SPACE INFECTION : AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL
Journal Title: Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery - Year 1995, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Intervertebral space infections are rarely seen complications of lumbar discal hernia operations. Hovvever îhey are important because their definite diagnosis and treatment are difficult, their treatment is expensive and they cause loss of work. The treatment is medical except some special cases and it's very hard to grow the pathogen microorganism from the cultures of both blood and intervertebral space specimens. Because of these reasons suf-ficient knowiedge about the bacteriological andhistopathological changes couldn't have been obtained. in this experimental study, a intervertebral space infection model was made in rats under laboratory conditions. The groups to which S.aureus, K.pneumoniae, P.aeruginosa and physiological şaline had been inocuiated, were examined microbiologically and histopathologically after three weeks. Among the inocuiated microorganisms, S. aureus continued its activity and caused disectructive changes after this period of time. Aiso vacuoiar myelopathia was detected in the spinal cord and spinai roots of ali three pathogen inocuiated groups.

POSTERIOR APPROACH IN TRAUMATIC THORACIC AND THORACOLUMBAR SPONDYLOPTOSIS
Objective: Traumatic spondyloptosis a 100 % or more subluxation of a vertebral unit over another inferior unit in the sagittal or coronal plane is a very rare pathology. In this study, clinical findings and follow-up...
POSTEROLATERAL DECOMPRESSION AND POSTERIOR INSTRUMENTATION AND FUSION İN TUBERCULOSIS OF THORACOLUMBAR VERTEBRAE
