Intracranial Nerves Assessment Using 3D Mri Sequences - A Radiologist’s Endoscopy - A Pictorial Essay of Intracranial Nerve Anatomy & Pathology
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Applied Radiology - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Intracranial nerve anatomy is complex and requires a detailed understanding of its normal anatomic course for tailoring examinations, locating the abnormalities along its course and interpreting the imaging findings. The aim of this pictorial assay is to emphasize the need of clear knowledge of radiological anatomy of the intracranial nerves for evaluation of cranial neuropathies as well as utility of 3D steady state free precision sequences in evaluation of isolated cranial nerve pathologies. High-resolution isotropic three-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging acquisition relying heavily on constructive interference in the steady state (CISS) has largely replaced 2D techniques previously used for the evaluation of the intracranial nerves (CNs).
