Intrapopulation variation in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) plantations by biochemical characteristics of needles
Journal Title: Лісівництво і агролісомеліорація - Year 2014, Vol 124, Issue
Abstract
Data on using of morphological and biochemical characteristics for study the intrapopulation variation and correlations of Scots pine plantations are given. The plantations were created within a single experimental plot using planting material of different number of mother trees. It is shown that the ratio of the content of some major components of the primary and secondary synthesis can be a criterion for evaluation of interpopulation and intrapopulation variability of species, as well as be marker in selection.

Growth characteristics of modal pine stands, planted on abandoned agricultural lands in Novgorod-Siversky and Chernihiv Polissya
Scots pine forests planted on abandoned agricultural lands are infected with root rot fungus (Heterobasidion annosum (Fr) Bref.) due to the disturbance of natural forest sites. The disease decreases the productivity of s...
The qualitative characteristics of Scots pine wood and phytomass of pine stands in Forest-Steppe in Kharkiv region
The problems of estimating the density of the wood of Scots pine forest stands in forest-steppe of Kharkiv region are considered. The indicators of natural and basic density are identified. It was found that the age of t...
Experimental conversion fellings in pine stands of East Polissya
Experimental combined conversion fellings were conducted in weakened middle age pure artificial pine stands. Active experiments consisted of 5 variants of thinning: formation of square, rectangular, strip and rounded gap...
Features of windfalls in beech forests of Carpathians
Indicators of windfalls in the beech and spruce zones of the Carpathians are considered. The estimation of their distribution on the altitude of hornbeam-beech stands is done. Wind resistance ranking of the forest specie...
Current status and growth of shelterbelts in the Kharkiv region and their meliorative efficiency
The article presents results of research on the growth and health of 68–70-year-old forest shelterbelts in which the proportion of oak (Quercus robur L.) is from 2 to 10 units. Mensuration indicators and forest-meliorati...
