INVESTIGATING THE IMPACT OF BILINGUALISM ON BRAIN PLASTICITY: A NEUROCOGNITIVE APPROACH TO LANGUAGE REPRESENTATION
Journal Title: International scientific journal Science and Innovation - Year 2024, Vol 3, Issue 12
Abstract
This study explores the impact of bilingualism on brain plasticity, focusing on how bilingual individuals represent and process multiple languages within the brain. By examining neuroimaging studies, electrophysiological data, and cognitive experiments, we assess the cognitive advantages and neural changes associated with bilingualism. The research highlights how bilingualism can enhance brain plasticity, particularly in areas related to language processing, executive function, and cognitive flexibility. It also considers how factors such as age of acquisition, language proficiency, and frequency of use influence neural adaptations. Our findings suggest that bilingualism leads to structural and functional changes in the brain, fostering enhanced language processing abilities and broader cognitive functions.
