Investigation of mechanical properties of MIG-brazed DP600 steel plates using different arc voltage
Journal Title: Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering - Year 2016, Vol 75, Issue 2
Abstract
Purpose: In this study, the joinability of dual-phase automotive steel sheets by metal inertgas brazing method was aimed. DP 600 (Dual Phase) steel plates having 1 mm thicknesswere joined by copper-based (CuAl8) wire in gas metal arc brazing technique.Design/methodology/approach: Specimens were prepared in butt joint form. Brazingoperations were done with nine different Brazing arc voltage of 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 13, 13.5and 14 V. A copper-based CuAl8 wire was used as filler metal. Having accomplished the brazingoperations; tensile properties of joints were determined, and micro and macro-structures of jointswere investigated in order to see the joinability of DP 600 steel by gas metal arc brazing technique.Originality/value: The tensile strength increased from 10 V to 12 V arc voltage and reachedthe maximum value as 640 MPa, and then decreased with increasing arc voltage.

Temperature impact on delayed fracture of creep-resistant steels welds
Purpose: Phenomenon of delayed fracture (or cold cracks formation) of hardenable steels weldments had been widely investigated. But temperature dependence of cracking susceptibility remained discussable, because there wa...
Effects of laser heat treatment of steel following diffusion chromizing
Purpose: This paper presents the findings of a study of laser heat treatment of C45 steel following diffusion chromizing. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of laser heating of steel subjected on the microstru...
Development of ice abrasive waterjet cutting technology
Purpose: Abrasive water jet (AWJ) cutting uses mineral abrasive to cut practically all materials. In ice abrasive water jet (IAWJ) cutting, the ice particles are used as abrasive. IAWJ is under development with the aim t...
