Investigation of photocatalytic performance of keggin type heteropolyacid in degradation of methylene blue
Journal Title: Chemical Methodologies - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
In this project, keggin-type polyoxometalate, cationic exchange Q5PMoV2O40 (denoted as TBA-PMoV) was synthesized to produce a recovarable catalyst. This catalyst was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Field Emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS). The synthesized catalyst showed high photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methylene blue as a pollutant under UV light irradiation. The effect of various factors such as catalyst amount, contact time and pH on degradation of methylene blue (denoted as MB) were investigated. Formal batch adsorption studies was applied for investigation of effects of various parameters, such as initial solution pH, initial dye concentration, catalyst amount, temperature, etc. Optimization results for 20 mg/L methylene blue showed that maximum degradation efficiency 96.8 % at the optimum conditions was found to be: catalyst amount 25 mg, pH= 7.6 and time 60 min at ambient pressure and temperature.

Selective Transport of Aromatic Compounds across Parchment Supported Prussian blue Membrane
The study of permeation of Aromatic compounds across parchment-supported membrane treated with Prussian blue is presented. The skin layer of the metal hexacyanoferrate membrane consists of a network structure could be se...
A Simple and Sensitive Method for the Ultra Trace Determination of Potential Genotoxic Impurities in Abacavir Sulfate by LC-MS
A new LC-MS based method was developed to detect three potential genotoxic impurities namely, N',N'''-(4,6-dichloropyrimidine-2,5-diyl)bis[N,N-dimethyl(imidoformamide)]} (Impurity-I), {N-(2-amino-4-chloro-6-{[(1S,2R)-2-(...
Prediction of the structural and spectral properties and reactivity of the silicon analogs of cyclobutadiene C4-nSinH4 (n=0-4) by density functional theory computations
In recent years, it has been noted that the silicon analogs of compounds have more pharmaceutical applications because of their more lipophilicity properties. The present research paper studies the structural and spectra...
Computational Investigation of β-hydrogen Elimination in the (C2X5)2B(C2H5); X=H, F, Cl, Br Molecules
In this paper, the DFT methods were applied at the M06-2X/6–311++G(d,p) levels of theory to investigate the β-hydrogen elimination in the (C2X5)2B(C2H5); X=H, F, Cl, Br. It was attempted to show how the electronegativity...
Phthalimide Derivatives: New Promising Additives for Functional Electrolyte in Lithium-ion Batteries
Vinylene carbonate (VC) is the most well-known additive for current lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Low anodic stability or insufficient oxidation stability as a drawback of VC affected LIBs performance, especially in high...
