Journal Title: Yükseköğretim ve Bilim Dergisi - Year 2018, Vol 8, Issue 2

Abstract

The current research aims to investigate the relationship between lifelong learning and student communication satisfaction levels of preservice teachers and to look into whether there are any differences according to gender and class level variables. The sample consists of pre-service teachers who are studying at Sakarya University Education Faculty. A total of 508 pre-service teachers (391 female and 117 male) participated in the study. The Lifelong Learning Scale, which was developed by Wielkievicz and Meuwissen (2014) and adapted to Turkish culture by Boztepe and Demirtaş (2016), was used as the data collection instrument to assess the lifelong learning levels of preservice teachers. The scale contains 13 items. The Student Communication Satisfaction Scale developed by Goodboy, Martin and Bolkan (2009) and adapted to Turkish culture by Boztepe (2017) contained 24 items and was utilized to measure the communication satisfaction levels of the pre-service teachers. Depending on the normality tests, parametric and non-parametric tests were used for analysis. Positive relationship was found between the levels of lifelong learning and student communication satisfaction but it was a poor relationship. Lifelong learning levels and student communication satisfaction levels did not differ significantly according to gender variable whereas they varied significantly according to class level variable.
