Investigation of the Relationship between Modernism and Changing Family Structure in Iran (Case study: Dehdasht city, Iran, 2014)

Abstract
Human tendencies for change, evolution, stability, and order are inherent characteristics and continuity factors of all societies. For this reason, consideration of changes, orders and social system consistency has always been one of the major concerns of human beings. The Iranian society is now changing in a way that its scope and extent are not clear enough. The aim of this descriptive-analytical study was to investigate the effects of modernism on changing family structure in Dehdasht city. Based on statistical methods, 400 participants were selected for the present study. The data were obtained by means of a questionnaire and analyzed by the SPSS software (Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression). The results indicated significant relationships between the independent variables of the present study (scientism, rationality, individualism, freedom seeking, profit seeking, consumerism and democratic attitude) and changing family structure in Dehdasht city of Iran(p<0.05).
