Journal Title: Współczesna Gospodarka - Year 2016, Vol 7, Issue 1
Abstract
In the times of widespread consumerism and access to technology it is hard to iden- tify and set group of luxury good apart on any of the markets. In the group of smartphones each of models has almost the same appliance and their features do not vary much. However, there is a product that provides the user with traditional functions but al- so gives the user special status. The aim of this article is to determine if the iPhone is an example of luxury good on the market of smartphones in the economic way. To verify this hypothesis author uses two rules: the Veblen effect and the income elasticity of demand.
