Blog as a publicist genre is characterized by factuality, precision in nomination, eventfulness, as well as by subjectivity of author's assessment, expressiveness, desire to be witty and original which causes frequent use of various types of irony. The objects of irony in Ukrainian blogs are most often Ukrainian politicians, far more rarely Russian politicians and leaders of world political elite are involved in ironic elucidation. In analyzed material a wide specter of verbalization means expressing ironic attitude of bloggers to politicians have been revealed: starting from simple ones (antiphrasis, comparison, epithet, special vocabulary: jargon, slang, surzhik, barbarism, occasionalisms) which can be understood within linguistic context of a single blog and ending with complex types of associative irony to decode which it is necessary to have quite extensive background knowledge (different kinds of quotations, game of words, allusions etc). Ironic appellations of politicians are often one of components of the whole blog ironic modality and they are created through combination of several stylistic techniques. The assessment scale has been designed in this article to rate from forgiving derision to harsh disapproval. The objects of negative ironic assessment in all analyzed blogs are politicians of the Russian Federation; ironic evaluation of other Ukrainian and world politicians vary.
