Abstract
The paper analyzes the origin and development of scientific ideas about the phenomenon of “effectiveness of law”. The author proposes a periodization of the formation and development of scientific developments in the problems of the effectiveness of law. The origin of scientific research of the effectiveness of law is determined. The main historical periods of the formation of scientific thought about the effectiveness of law are highlighted and their main features are outlined. Possible ways of further research development of the issues of the effectiveness of law are formulated.
