Abstract
The main milestones of the development and establishing the punctuation in the Ukrainian language are being discovered in the article. A historical excursion allowed to outline both common tendencies and actual national approaches to the implementation of a system of the punctuation marks, to show their introduction into the spelling system of the Ukrainian language.
