Kani Karaca in the Turkish Religious Music tradition in 20th Century

Abstract
With this study, the contributions to the Turkish Religious Music made by Kâni Karaca who is one of the important representatives of Turkish Religious Music in the 20th century were determined. Furthermore, it’s also aimed to provide future generations with attitude and style added by him to our music. As a result of research made, it’s noticed that there is no any critical academic research study conducted for examining Kâni Karaca and because of lack of available documents, the interviews made with relatives of Karaca, his friends and students brought our study to life. As a result of obtained data, it’s revealed one more time that Karaca is an important representative of Turkish Religious Music by determining his performed mastery and notation of recordings voiced by him. Starting from voice recordings kept in archives, some of the songs voiced by him notated. Hereby, arrangements unique to him and applicability of tunes were revealed. All of the data used for the study were obtained through examining academic articles, interviews, documentaries, dissertations on religious music topics and various books.
