Abstract
Punishment is always realized through guidance in prisons or correctional institutions. There is a view that argues that lawbreakers can only be educated if they are exiled from social circles. They are also declared as individuals who are damaged in every way, so they cannot be expected to be friendly in their social lives. With this view, it is a legal retaliation and the desire of the community itself. The discussion concerns the relationship between correctional institutions in the criminal justice system, to find out the relationship between correctional institutions in the criminal justice system, using normative juridical research methods that examine legal sources, statutory regulations and court decisions, as well as documents contained in the criminal justice system. There are several books that discuss the position of correctional institutions as a subsystem of criminal justice. Correctional Institutions, in accordance with Article 1 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 22 of 2022 concerning correctional institutions, are one of the sub-systems in the Criminal Justice System in our country whose task is to provide guidance to prisoners who still have the opportunity to repent.
